Deere offers new technologies for 2023

The agriculture industry is constantly upgrading and introducing new technologies to help advance our growing capabilities. For example, John Deere announced their fully autonomous tractor that’s ready for large-scale production this year at CES 2022 in Las Vegas. While it might be a while before that is the norm across the country side, there are other new and exciting technologies that John Deere revealed today.
John Deere announced new See & Spray Ultimate to enable targeted spraying, a new Electric Variable Transmission, and updates for its planters.

See & Spray Ultimate

John Deere has introduced See & Spray Ultimate, a factory-installed system available for model year 2023 John Deere 410R, 412R, and 612R Sprayers that enables targeted spraying of non-residual herbicide on weeds among corn, soybean, and cotton plants. There is one camera mounted every one meter across the width of the boom, which equates to 36 cameras on a 120-foot boom scanning more than 2,100 square feet at once. The accuracy of the target spray is enhanced by BoomTrac Ultimate, the new, industry-leading boom height control system from John Deere.

  • See & Spray Ultimate can reduce non-residual herbicide use by more than two-thirds by only spraying weeds in corn, soybeans, and cotton.
  • Dual-product capabilities of See & Spray Ultimate allow farmers to combat herbicide resistance by using two independent tank mixes in one pass and avoiding antagonism in more advanced tank mixes.
  • Targeted spray technology can help farmers gain cost efficiency thanks to more than a two-thirds reduction in spray volume that can significantly lower herbicide costs, and result in fewer tendering stops, and more acres covered per day.

See more information on the See &Spray Ultimate here.
Electric Variable Transmission for select 8 Series Tractors

John Deere has made updates to its 8 and 9 Series Tractors for model year 2023 by adding new technology and power. For the largest models of 8 Series Tractors, John Deere is offering a new stepless Electric Variable Transmission (EVT) that enables precise speed control and enhanced drivability. For 9 Series Tractors, the largest models will be powered by the new JD14X (13.6L) diesel engine.

  • A new Electric Variable Transmission (EVT) is a stepless transmission that provides exceptionally smooth operation, available for MY23 8 Series Tractors with 410 horsepower.
  • EVT enables electric power generation, a way the industry will leverage power produced by the tractor for its implements in the future.
  • A new JD14X (13.6L) diesel engine will now power the largest 9R 640 and 9RX 640 Tractors.

For MY 23, John Deere 9R 640 and 9RX 640 Tractors will now also be powered by the all-new, completely redesigned JD14X diesel engine producing 640-rated horsepower. For more information about the full line of John Deere 8 and 9 Series Tractors, visit the John Deere website.
MY23 updates to planters
John Deere has announced Model Year 2023 updates for its planters that include a new configuration for the 1725C 16R30 planter and enhanced frame design for existing 1725C 12R36/38 and 12R38/40 planters, along with additional enhancements that will add value for corn and cotton producers.
The 1725C replaces the 1725CCS planter which will still be offered until the end of MY23. The 1725C 16 row planter offers individual row hydraulic downforce, pneumatic closing wheels and ExactRate that’s not offered on the 1725CCS. In addition, the 1725 offers improved frame weight distribution and better maneuverability without the need for lift-assist wheels compared to the 1725CCS.
Updates to the 1725 16R30 planter include a new configuration with enhanced frame design, a 55-bushel Central Commodity System (CCS) with relocated blower, along with a full agronomic suite. Farmers can now order the 1725C 16R30 planter with the optional ExactRate fertilizer system.
